Shades of grey

My heart weeps for Medine Memi, buried alive by her father and grandfather.

Is this normal Kurdish practice? If so, should I be sheading a tear for the execution of Chemical Ali who ordered the gassing and murder of 5,000 Kurds in the city of Halabja during the Iran-Iraq war.

It's not easy is it? Never black, nor white but damn shades of grey.

But still, Medine, Heshu, Hatun, Gulsum, Tulay and many others brutally murdered, all will forever stand out in this cruel grey world...

The price of virginity

Tony Abbot (the Monk) Liberal Opposition Leader was asked by Australian Women's Weekly, what advice he would give his three daughters on sex before marriage. His response:

"I would say to my daughters, if they were to ask me this question … it is the greatest gift you can give someone, the ultimate gift of giving and don't give it to someone lightly."

The chorus from Aussie women :

"If one were to look in the dictionary under "hypocrite", there would be a picture of Mr Abbott." ~ Comedian Fiona Scott-Norman

"Nonsense!" ~ Latrobe University sex education expert Associate Professor Anne Mitchell.

"These comments will confirm the worst fears of Australian women about Tony Abbott, Australian women want to make their own choices and they don't want to be lectured to by Mr Abbott." ~ Deputy Prime Minister Julia Gillard

and on and on it goes...

But is the proof not in the pudding? In today's news, A CASH-STRAPPED New Zealand student who auctioned off her virginity to help pay her university fees said she had accepted an offer of $NZ45,000 ($36,100) to sleep with a stranger.

Would you give away $NZ45,000 lightly?

It's time...

Wikipedia ~ Outlook is one of India's four top-selling English weekly newsmagazines. Like many other Indian magazines it is reluctant to reveal its circulation, but the 2007 National Readership Survey suggested 1.5 million copies. Outlook's competitors are India Today, The Week, and Tehelka.

Circulation 1.5 million! One bashing has managed to do what millions spent in advertising could not. It's about time we faced up to racism, not bury our head in the sand, saying she'll be alright!

It's not!
